1. Establish a place of prayer.

2. Be specific in your prayer.

3. Speak into the spirit world.

Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They shall have their reward.

Jesus’ first instruction -> don’t make your prayer a show. Don’t try to pray to men. Prayer is not a time for you to show how holy you are. If you’re praying to prove that you are right, you’re praying a hypocritical prayer! You’re not praying; you’re a hypocrite! “Oh Lord, thank You for saving me, unlike my wife whose ungrateful etc”

“Boy, brother Richard got you, didn’t he?” or “Did you hear that? That sermon’s for you! Hope you heard it nice and good!” You hypocrite! Pray that God has mercy on you for your hypocritical attitude.

“Look at how much time I’m giving you, LORD.” You cannot sit at the bargaining table with Jesus!

“For all men have sinned and come short of His glory”

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Why closet? Cuz there’s no traffic. Find a place where there’s no traffic, where you’re going to get interrupted all the time.

Go into a room where there is no traffic! Go into the closet and close yourself in!

1. Prayer has a REWARD. If you want God to operate in your life, you can only receive it through prayer.

“By your words you’ll be justified and by your words you shall be condemned.”

Vain Repetitions

Matt 6:7 “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathens do” Notice it did not say repetitions, but vain repetitions; this is when you use meaningless words to fill up space. You’re not saying anything, your prayer has no direction, and you’re not really meaning anything.

They think they are heard just because of their much speaking. Just because you talk a long time, doesn’t mean He’ll hear you. If you really pray, even if it’s 5 seconds, He’ll hear you. Sometimes your prayer may be short, but the “fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. As long as you’re honest and sincere, He’ll hear you.

If you follow the LORD’s Prayer as a guideline for one hour everyday, you’ll find that you cover every single area of your life. Your entire day will be subject to the will of the LORD.

God will be able to operate through you all day long!!!

The Lord’s prayer is a series of topics to pray on. It will submit your entire life to Him.

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name (1)

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven (2)

Give us this day our daily bread (3)

Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors (4)

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (5)

For Thy is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory, for ever. Amen. (6)

6 is the number of man. 6 is the number we can put our flesh under authority to God. Remember, our flesh is enmity with God and not subject to God’s Laws.

We will save people through prayer!!! You can’t do it by having programs, fancy songs and good sermons! You do it through prayer! You have to bind the strongman of this house for your household to be saved!!

1^st Key: Realise that He is my Father, open up your prayer with worship unto Him, recognize who HE is!!! “Hallowed” -> Holy, separate from man

“God, You’re not like mankind. You’re my Father, You have made me a member of Your family by the precious blood of Jesus, and I have never been rejected by You LORD, ”

Isaiah 55:8 “

Benefit of the LORD’s name: Spirit

Jehovah Shalom -> God of Peace

Jehovah Shammah -> Jehovah is there

You worship Him for the benefits of who He is!

Think: What if you could only reach God in the four corners of the church? Life would be lonely.

Benefit of the Lord’s Name is: Soundness

Jehovah Rophe: Jehovah that Heals

Take out time and let Him know that we appreciate Him!!!!

Jehovah Jireh ->God provides for you!!

Look at the provisions you’ve got and thank Him for it!!!!

Jehovah Nissi -> He is my banner, He is my strong tower, He is my protection!!!

Thank Him for how He has watched over me, Thank Him for the journey mercies!!!

-> Jehovah is my Shepherd
